Companies can start to ensure they have their environmental house in order by establishing environmental management plans.

Environmental management plans have seven basic components:

  • A review of the company or organization’s environmental goals.
  • An evaluation of the company or organization’s regulatory duties and the current impact the company has on the environment.
  • Setting measurable goals and timetables for progress in meeting environmental and compliance goals.
  • Developing programs to meet established goals and targets.
  • Communicating the importance of environmental awareness and knowledge to all staff members and management.
